The rivers and streams of the Alaskan Peninsula in our area are an anglers paradise...cold, crystal clear, and full of fish. The Peninsula here is only 50 miles wide, assuring bright fish from both the Pacific Ocean to the east and from Bristol Bay to the west. The lodge jetboats are used to access the best fishing streams on our "home" river system which has fantastic fishing and provides plenty of room to spread out by boat. All our fishing is river and stream. Wading and casting in groups of two or three anglers per guide is normal and other people are rarely encountered. Painter Creek is a great place to learn to fly fish due to the large numbers of fish and instruction for all levels of experience is available from our guides. We encourage catch and release and use of single barbless hooks in order to protect this amazing fishery. |

We fish all five species of Pacific salmon. The largest of the salmon, the kings (chinooks), begin our season as they return to the rivers in our region to begin their spawning run the last week of June. Weighing up to 50 lbs., these incredibly powerful fish are a sought after prize by anglers, as well they should be! Chum and sockeye (red) salmon start running about the same time. Fresh pink salmon enter the streams towards the end of July and great fun to tease with dry flies! Coho (silver) salmon begin to arrive by mid-August. The first two weeks of August are prime for trying an "Alaskan Grand Slam" -- catching each of all five species in a single week. Arctic char come in with the kings and are a fun fighter all season! |
